THE BALM OF GILEAD -A BRIEF HISTORY [Source : WIKIPEDIA]
The Balm of Gilead is a special and rare perfume used medicinally. As mentioned in the Bible, it was produced from the territory of Gilead. The expression, “Balm of Gilead” was expressed in the King James Bible version in 1611 by William Tyndale’s documentary.
In his figurative speech, the balm of Gilead signified a universal cure for all problems and ailments that might come across people’s lives! The tree producing this balm is generally known as Commiphora gileadensis.

Was there any land space called Gilead?
The question arises whether there was any area or region named Gilead. Of course there was. Gilead was a region east of the Jordan River. It was a mountainous and fertile land. From the scripture as seen in Joshua 13:24-31, this region was inherited by the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half of Manasseh.
What About This Balm, Does it or Did it Really Exist?
Of course, the balm existed and still exist. Let us take a look at Genesis 37:25. “And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and, behold, a company of Ishmeelites came from Gilead with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.”
Today, the balm of Gilead has taken a prophetic and supernatural dimension in the form of healing solutions through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is our true Healer, our Redeemer, our everything. When we cry unto Him, He answers us and shows us great and mighty things we know not. (Read Jeremiah 33:3). God is the source of all healing. In Exodus 15:26, our God declared that He is the God that heals us. There was a statement in Psalm 103:3,”Who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.” This is God for you.

This platform does not have anything against modern medicine. In whatever you do or apply to heal or cure any ailment, know at the bottom of your heart that it is God through His Son Jesus Christ, that makes everything to work out for our good and restoration. Symbolically, Jesus is the healing balm of our souls today. Any other balm whatsoever is temporary in healing our physical wounds. Jesus is the final solution.
Prophet Jeremiah in Jeremiah 8 was scared of what would befall his people of Jerusalem as a result of the siege on Jerusalem by the warriors of Babylon. Of course, they had sinned and fallen short of the Glory of the Lord. Hence his cry in verse 22 of the 8th chapter, “Is there no balm in Gilead; Is there no physician there? Why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?” Jeremiah knew that all attempts by humanity to cure or heal are not adequate until the healing hand of Jehovah Rapha comes in.

- For those who are depressed, emotionally challenged and in any form of bondage, I decree and declare your healing and freedom now in Jesus name.
